Mass Transmit selects PowerMTA from Port25 Solutions, Inc. Ellicott City, MD, April 15, 2010 -- Mass Transmit, a rapidly emerging and B2B-focused Internet marketing agency, announced today that it has selected Port25's PowerMTA software to manage the growing digital messaging infrastructure of its Email Transmit SaaS offering. One of the challenges Mass Transmit encountered before choosing PowerMTA was overall email sending inefficiency caused by growing mail queues as the existing MTAs had trouble processing already queued messages in parallel with new email being injected. However in contrast, Mass Transmit recognized (after evaluating PowerMTA on only a single server) that it could effortlessly administer the same email load as multiple relay instances running Exim, an open source MTA. Port25's strategic focus on outbound email delivery and the usefulness of PowerMTA's innovative VirtualMTA technology, which allows a specific IP address/hostname combination to be defined and unique delivery settings to be bound to disparate email streams, also contributed to Mass Transmit's decision to upgrade to PowerMTA. Since future versions of the Email Transmit applications required dedicated IPs to adhere to the requirements of reputation and certification programs such as those available from specialty vendors like ReturnPath, PowerMTA would address this issue by allowing Mass Transmit to precisely shape traffic through specific IPs simply by setting an email header. Another benefit Mass Transmit saw during its initial evaluation period, was PowerMTA's ability to provide highly granular (and near-real time) insight into delivery errors which allowed deliverability staff to immediately identify problems and patterns. PowerMTA's straightforward configuration process also allowed Mass Transmit to set delivery parameters based on individual domains, such as speed and retry rates. Reporting was also a contributing factor, especially in the B2B space where identifying problem domains is critical for IP-based reputation and increased deliverability. PowerMTA not only enabled Mass Transmit to dramatically increase message delivery speed, but it also reduced the amount of servers required to carry out the process and manage. Mark Lewis, CTO of Mass Transmit concludes, "Mass Transmit is excited to have implemented PowerMTA for Email Transmit. The VirtualMTA feature allows us to keep traffic separate from application to application and client to client. Fred and Russell have been most helpful during our initial examination of their product. The Port25 online support community is also a great resource for integration, deliverability, and performance tips. Our next version of Email Transmit and future email specific applications will be developed to take advantage of PowerMTA's delivery reports."
