Port25 Adds Native Support for Habeas Sender Warranted Email PALO ALTO, CA.—November 17, 2004— Habeas Inc., the company that defeats spam by enabling trust in legitimate email , today announced that Port25 Solutions Inc., a leading provider of email gateway software for customer communications, has added native support for Habeas Sender Warranted Email to PowerMTA™, its flagship software product. By providing direct support for Habeas Sender Warranted Email in PowerMTA, Port25 makes it easy for legitimate volume email senders to take advantage of the deliverability benefits provided by Habeas Sender Accreditation. Port25’s PowerMTA is a leading email gateway software product that is used by leading email service providers and top consumer brands. Port25 is the only email gateway supplier focused exclusively on the unique requirements of customer relationship management (CRM) email messaging and is the first to provide native support for Habeas Sender Warranted Email. Port25 has also been a leader in the industry-wide effort to drive adoption of email authentication standards such as Microsoft’s Sender ID and Yahoo’s DomainKeys. “As approaches for authentication and accreditation are deployed among email infrastructure companies, ISPs are paying attention to email streams that are certified as legitimate and identified as such,” said Des Cahill, Habeas’ chief executive officer. “Habeas is forging relationships with key infrastructure companies who originate legitimate email, as well as with key receivers and ISPs who process that email. Our agreement with Port25 means that Habeas Accredited Senders can now select a leading MTA to distinguish their Habeas-compliant email.” “Delivering prospect and customer email has become very complex. By providing direct support for Habeas accreditation offerings within PowerMTA, we make it very easy for legitimate senders to separate their email from spam,” said Bill Karpovich, SVP of marketing and strategy at Port25. For legitimate senders of email, the Habeas Warrant Mark significantly boosts delivery rates to ISPs and email receivers. When a spam filter detects the Habeas Warrant Mark in the header of an email, it automatically checks the Habeas Whitelist to positively identify the sending IP address as that of a valid Habeas licensee. If it is, the email message is cleared for delivery to the recipient, instead of being indiscriminately dumped into the ‘junk mail and ‘bulk mail’ folders that are rarely checked by recipients. PowerMTA supports Habeas Sender Warranted Email by providing real-time segmentation of messages into distinct streams or “classes” of email. To use Habeas Sender Warranted Email, an organization will identify its various classes of email, such as single opt-in, double opt-in, transactional, etc. Using easily configured rules, PowerMTA classifies messages as they are submitted for delivery. Each message is stamped with the appropriate Habeas mark and sent using the distinct IP address that has been associated with the respective class of email. Port25 also provides tools to help users test and verify that their configurations remain synchronized with the Habeas Whitelist. “Habeas and Port25 each provide very effective solutions to fight spam from the send side. By working together, they provide legitimate senders with a compelling solution to help overcome the deliverability challenges facing enterprises that use email for marketing and customer communications,” said Michael Osterman, president and founder of Osterman Research.
