Part III: VirtualMTA Reporting in the PowerMTA Management Console

VirtualMTA™ Technology was developed by Port25 Solutions, to enable demanding senders the ability to control the source IP address for each individual message.  Each VirtualMTA performs it’s delivery functions independently, this allows senders to regulate each message stream with greater control and effectiveness, thus messages have a higher chance of reaching the inbox.  VirtualMTA™ enables senders to dedicate IPs to individual mail-streams or as granular as individual clients-which helps for enhanced reputation monitoring and preservation.

As indicated in the previous two posts in this series, Part I on Bounce Categorization and Part II on Domain Reporting,  PowerMTAs extensive reporting in the PMC, has been extended to provide detailed analysis for each VirtualMTA. For example, by clicking on a specific VirtualMTA in the output, generates an additional IP address detail report for the VirtualMTA.  This is beneficial for sites that use more than one IP in a VirtualMTA.

The output includes the IP address used when the final action occurred (delivered or bounced), the total number of messages that were delivered or had bounced for the IP address, the number of messages delivered, the number of messages that had bounced, and the percent of messages that had bounced vs. total messages for the IP, for the specific

Here are the VirtualMTA™ Reporting Options

  •  Top Recipients:  Lists the top 10-50 VirtualMTA / IP pairs based on the number of total recipients (delivered + bounced).  It Includes the VirtualMTA name, IP address used for the delivery or attempted delivery,  total recipient counts, delivered counts, bounced counts, and bounce ratio (bounced counts as a percentage of total recipients for the VirtualMTA / IP pair).
  •  Top Delivered: Lists the top 10-50 VirtualMTA/IP pairs based on the delivered counts.   Includes the VirtualMTA(™) name, IP address used for the delivery or attempt, total recipient counts, delivered counts, bounced counts, and bounce ratio (bounced counts as a percentage of total recipients for the VirtualMTA/ IP pair).
  •  Top Bounced: Lists the top 10-50 VirtualMTA/ IP pairs based on the bounced counts.  Includes the VirtualMTA name, IP address used for the delivery or attempt, total recipient counts, delivered counts, bounced counts, and bounce ratio (bounced counts as a percentage of total recipients for the VirtualMTA/IP pair).
  •  Hourly Breakdown: Requires use of the VirtualMTA filter.  Lists both a total and hourly breakdown of total recipient counts (delivered + bounced), delivered counts, bounced counts, and bounce ratio (bounced counts in the hour as a percentage of total recipients in the hour) for the VirtualMTA specified in the filter.

We hope you enjoyed this series on reporting in the PowerMTA Management Console.
